Welcome!

In recent years, due to the lacking economy, many people have begun to undertake some of their home improvement and repair projects themselves.  There are many resources – at least 2 television networks, countless magazines and more web content than you could ever read – but many of these DIYers, and even some bad contractors, overlook some of the important steps that make for a great finished product.

That’s why I wanted to take some time to write this blog.  Not only to let people know how to do things properly themselves, but also how to tell if the contractor you’ve hired or are considering hiring will do a great job that will last.  I will include some of the things that I have found in my remodels.  I will tell you why it is wrong, how the original work should have been done, and how working from this poor craftsmanship can greatly increase the amount of work that has to be done to correct it.

I love to hear stories from homeowners about renovations gone wrong or anyone in need of advice with regards to a project they are looking into, or may already be in over their head.  Knowledge is the foundation of a successful project.
